to remind me that it wasn't a dream - i have pictures, i get a lot of work emails from colleagues in india and i have a certain waiter who has emailed and even called a couple of times. :) i also have a few souvenirs, including a sari and a package of bindis just waiting to be worn.
i think i'm a pretty lucky person that i've been able to go to a few different countries now through work. even though i worked my ass off while in india, i definitely got to fill my weekends with cultural experiences galore. i learned what it's like to be really served (kinda uncomforable), i learned how generous the indian culture is (overwhelmingly), i learned that religion can play an interesting role in the workplace, i learned that things aren't always as different as they seem on the surface. i got to see some beautiful monuments and architecture, i got to eat excellent food, i got to meet fantastic people. missing my portland social life and creature comforts while in india just helped me to appreciate it more when i got home. all-in-all, i really have only good things to say about my experience. i am blessed.
